Jamaican gold medalist ran in someone else’s lane and didn’t get disqualified

The 100-meter dash, at its essence, is the easiest event in sports. Start, run a straight line for a handful of seconds, then stop. The 200-meter dash is only slightly more complicated: Start, run a curve for handful of seconds, then hit a straightaway for the second half of the race and finish. You’d think this would be easy enough for anyone, let alone a seven-time Olympic medalist such as Veronica Campbell-Brown. But you’d be wrong, my friends. You’d be wrong.

In a track and field world championships that keeps getting wilder and wilder, Campbell-Brown, the two-time Olympic 200 gold medalist, shifted lanes in the 200 heats, moving over into the lane of Englishwoman Margaret Adeoye, who appeared quite confused by the interloper in her lane.
